Working
with Mars on Dis Is Da Drum was the experience of a lifetime. He added
textures, melodic content, and conceptual ideas that were truly exceptional
and totally inspiring. I love working with people who are not afraid to
take risks. Mars provided the multi-genre cutting edge stuff that I needed.
He is a master of sound design of the highest order and his talents don't
stop there. Mars Lasar is in every way the complete musician. |

| This
was an interesting project. I co-wrote and co-produced three songs on this
album - "Dis Is Da Drum", "Mojuba", and "JuJu".
I also co-produced the remake of Herbie classic "Butterfly" and
did some sound design and keys for "Call it '95", "Rubber
Soul", and "Bo Ba Be Da". Herbie and I go back to the Fairlight
days. He's been a technologist since the beginning of electronic music.
There was some extensive programming involved in this album. I took the
original tracks from Herbie and added my work to it, then sent them back.
Later we merged all the components together to come up with a collage of
talent. Herbie is one serious Talent that I am honored to say I worked with. Learn more about Herbie Hancock. |
